Consultations
POPARD applies an empowerment model of consultation. Our goal is to build great skill and confidence in teams, leading to empowerment, an increase in local capacity, and improved outcomes for the identified student and classroom.
Student Consultation
POPARD’s individual student consultation model was designed to support school teams in addressing the priority needs of an individual student. This service consists of a series of meetings with opportunities for in-school support to help the team carry out the implementation plan.
Our Class-wide/Program Consultation option is suitable for classroom or school-based resource or itinerant teachers supporting more than 1 student with ASD. The teacher will work closely with the consultant to develop general classroom goals, structure, curriculum, or behaviour support plans that have been shown to be effective for students with ASD in the classroom. For school-based resource or itinerant teachers, topics covered might include case management, classroom integration, curriculum adaptations and modifications, IEPs, advocacy, or parent-school communication.
